School counselors play a vital role in supporting students’ academic, social-emotional, and career development. This presentation explores practical ways counselors can advocate for their role and demonstrate their impact at four key levels: the school, district, community, and state. Participants will learn strategies for communicating the value of comprehensive school counseling programs, building strong partnerships, using data to tell their story, and elevating the profession. The goal is to empower school counselors to move beyond simply explaining what they do to confidently advocate for why school counseling matters and how strong counseling programs contribute to student success and the well-being of the entire school community.
1. Identify strategies school counselors can use to effectively communicate and advocate for the value of comprehensive school counseling programs at the school, district, community, and state levels.
2. Develop approaches for building partnerships and using student and program data to demonstrate the impact of school counseling programs on student success and school-community well-being.
3. Apply advocacy strategies to develop a plan to elevate the role and impact of school counselors within their school, district, community, or state.
1 NBCC hour will be awarded based on attendance of the ENTIRE webinar and completion of the survey.
